The ISM currently coordinates eleven inter-university research groups. A group, such as Algebra and Number Theory, is composed of all of the professors, postdocs and students from the member universities who work in the same field. Each group is coordinated by a committee made up of one professor from each member university. The groups assist in the planning of ISM courses, the organization of seminars, and the selection of CRM-ISM postdoctoral fellows.
