May 16-18, 2012, the Institut des sciences mathématiques (ISM) will be holding a summer
school for undergraduate and Master's students interested in continuing their studies
at the graduate level. The aim of the school is to present the ISM, its member universities,
and its research groups. Talks shall be given by:
Galia Dafni (analysis),
Franco Saliola (combinatorics),
Christiane Rousseau and
Jacques Bélair
(non-linear dynamics),
Frédéric Rochon (geometry and topology),
Jean-François Renaud
(financial mathematics),
Jean-Philippe Lessard (applied mathematics),
Yvan Saint-Aubin
(mathematical physics),
Louis-Pierre Arguin (probability),
David Stephens (statistics), and
Matilde Lalin (number theory).
The talks shall be given at McGill University (May 16), the University of Montreal (May 17) and UQAM (May 18).
ISM Graduate Program in Mathematics
The ISM, a unique consortium of eight Quebec universities, offers a unified graduate program
in the mathematical sciences. Through specialized courses and seminars, graduate students
quickly become part of inter-university research groups, making the transition from student
to researcher perfectly natural. The ISM works closely with the Centre de recherches
mathématiques (CRM), a world-renowned mathematical research centre located in Montreal.
